Dr Scott Strong, Acting CEO of SKMC, said:
"This change is based on a needs assessment within the community, which includes both UAE nationals and non-nationals. It is our aim to equalize the accessibility of service to all members of the Abu Dhabi community in a manner that is patient-centered and of the highest quality. Our ultimate goals are the provision of health education, prevention of diseases, and evidence-based management of disorders."
Dr Ali Khalili, Chair of Family Medicine at SKMC, stated that "In order to accommodate the expected increase in patient numbers for the two clinics, we have opened extra examination rooms in each of the clinics and added more family medicine consultants to the SKMC Family Medicine Department roster. We have also initiated the use of the Electronic Medical System at Al Khaleej and Al Bateen since July 17th 2008 to facilitate scheduling, record keeping and improve patient flow.
"It is worth mentioning that our SKMC Primary Healthcare Clinics are staffed by the highest number of Western and Arab Board-Certified consultants and specialists in Family Medicine compared to other clinics in the city. Both Al Bateen and Al Khaleej clinics contain X-ray and Laboratory services, while Bateen also has Mammography and DEX scanning for Bone Densitometry.
