Harry Winston honors recipients of the 2008 salutes awards

Presented during the closing ceremonies at the Bab Al Sams amphitheater, the award honors the outstanding achievements of filmmakers from the Middle East, Asia, and the West.

This year's recipients were presented with a special edition, Harry Winston, Ocean Diver timepiece, specially engraved DIFF 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award. Featuring highly innovative materials, such as Zalium, a metal alloy exclusive to Harry Winston Timepieces, the Harry Winston Ocean Diver is a luxury sports watch with a modern, sophisticated edge.

Recipients of this year's 2008 DIFF Lifetime Achievement Awards were:
Rachid Bouchareb - Producer of Nilofoor, which screened at DIFF 2008, as well as Indigenes, which screened during DIFF 2006.

Terry Gilliam - Writer/director whose work includes, the Monty Python series, The Fisher King, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and The Brothers Grimm. Gilliam's latest work, The Imaginarium of Parnassus will be released in 2009.

Tsui Hark - Director of films including, Missing, The Butterfly Murders, and the Once Upon a Time in China series.

DIFF and Harry Winston also honored the recipient of this year's Outstanding Filmmaker of the Year Award, which was received by acclaimed American film producer, Charles Roven, for extraordinary achievements in cinema. Mr. Roven, whose film credits include The Dark Knight, Get Smart, The Brothers Grimm, and Twelve Monkeys, was presented to the honor by actor Nicholas Cage, during a special ceremony on December 12, 2008.
