Teachers' Professional Development Program begins in Aqaba

The World Links Arab Region's (WLAR) Teachers' Professional Development (TPD) Program has started in the resort city of Aqaba, with the training of Core Trainers, who will lead the 1040 teachers and master trainers cascade training process.

This will be with the support of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) following the signing of Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) among WLAR, ASEZA and the Jordanian Ministry of Education (MoE), few months earlier. It is expected for the program to cover most of the Governotate of Aqaba schools, possibly surrounding areas, in hope to reach the maxium of the educational personnel and youth within local communities.

Teachers, who will eventually pass their gained experiences in merging communications and telecommunications technology in education, coupled with higher order skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, employment of research tools, working collaboratively within groups and effectively communicating, are major role players as facilitators to learning inside the classroom. The prudently implemented tools towards changing teachers' behavioral patterns helps to prepare youth to become self and life-long learners within their communities.
