S.S. Lootah sign MoU with UKE Consult and Management, Germany

UAE based conglomerate S.S. Lootah Group and German-based UKE Consult and Management GmbH (UCM), the international arm of the University Medical Center Hamburg -Eppendorf (UKE), are pursuing a new cooperation agreement for comprehensive consultancy and management of healthcare services.

An MoU was signed on the sidelines of the Dubai-Hamburg Business Forum, by Eng. Yahya Lootah, Vice Chairman - CEO of S.S. Lootah Group and Dr. Mathias Goyen, CEO of UCM, , in the presence of HE Hisham Abdullah Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and HE Eng. Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber.

S.S. Lootah's cooperation with UCM will address the following aspects: Healthcare Consultancy Services, Management of Healthcare Projects, Design and Implementation of Hospital Management Systems and Education and Training of both medical and administrative personnel. UCM's expertise in the above areas will be incorporated in the soon-to-be launched hospital project of S.S. Lootah.

Eng. Yahya Lootah, Vice Chairman - CEO of S.S. Lootah Group commented, "We are very happy to be partnering with UCM for our upcoming hospital project. We are confident that our cooperation will offer the best of German expertise in healthcare management services to specifically cater to the needs of the people of the UAE." Praising S.S. Lootah's positive step to sign the MoU, HE Hisham Abdullah Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) said that Healthcare is a very important sector where cooperation between Dubai and Hamburg companies will be highly rewarding. "Dubai Chamber is glad to support S.S. Lootah's initiative as part of its role in creating business forums and exploring investment opportunities for its members to contribute to Dubai's economic growth." In addition, HE Eng. Hamad Buamim, Director General, DCCI reiterated that the agreement is an important step towards improving the Healthcare services in Dubai.

"Opening communication channels between companies in Dubai and other regional and global trade partners is the essence of the Chamber's mission, which fosters and encourages such forums as they have a great impact in reinforcing investment in Dubai."

The new general hospital which is due to open in 2009 is one of the largest private sector healthcare projects in Dubai. The hospital aims to uniquely integrate the best in hospitality and healthcare with state-of-the-art medical equipment, facilities and medical professionals as well as world-class partnerships with leading Healthcare service providers worldwide, thereby setting a new standard for healthcare in the UAE.

The University Medical Center Hamburg -Eppendorf (UKE) is the biggest Medical Center in the northern part of Germany. Over the past 10 years, S.S.
