All new 'Shahry - Pay Monthly' service offers personalized call packages for Qatar residents

Qtel today unveiled a new range of call packages for its popular 'Shahry - Pay Monthly' service, which will enable customers to personalize their mobile phone account to fully suit their needs.

For the first time, customers in Qatar will be able to select one free number they can make unlimited calls to; a range of call minutes, SMS, MMS and internet download options; and overall savings of up to 39% over standard prices.

Launched in December, the all-new service has been designed according to feedback gathered from customers throughout 2008. Nationals and long-term residents indicated that postpaid mobile services would provide better support if they could tailor their accounts to match their calling habits.

In addition, feedback suggested a demand for more sophisticated packages for mobile phone customers who regularly use advanced 3G technology to download internet and MMS on their phone, and more nuanced packages for people who didn't use these applications to the same extent.

To meet this market demand, Qtel has released four new Shahry packages designed to offer a wide range of choice for the Qatar market.

Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director of Group Communications, Qtel, said:
"Our new range of Shahry Value Packs reflects the changing needs of different demographic groups within Qatar. Taken together, they offer a distinct mix of value and innovation, to support our customers' lifestyles and communication requirements."

The four new Value Packs include the advanced Shahry 575 and Shahry 300, which enable customers to have one free Qtel number they can select to make unlimited calls to. The free number will enable customers to select a particular friend or colleague they call regularly and never have to pay for mobile calls to that person's number ever again. In addition, customers will be able to change that number once a month, to ensure that the maximum savings are being realized according to their changing personal needs.

The Shahry 575 and Shahry 300 Value Packs also offer a range of call minutes (2,000 call minutes for Shahry 575, 1,000 for Shahry 300), SMS (200 for Shahry 575, 100 for Shahry 300) , up to 100 MMS and 10 MB of internet download as part of the respective packages. A flat monthly fee will cover customers to the maximum call minutes, SMS and MMS required.

With the combined services factored in, the top -end Shahry 575 package provides savings of up to 39% on standard rates.

Other Shahry Value Packs - the Shahry 130 and Shahry 200 - were also launched today. Shahry 130 offers 300 call minutes, 30 SMS, 10 MMS and 1MB of internet downloads, while Shahry 200 provides 600 call minutes, 60 SMS, 40 MMS and 2MB of internet downloads.

The standard Shahry package, which does not have built-in call minutes and 3G services, will still be available at the low price.

Customers transitioning from the HALA Pay As You Talk service do not have to pay a fee to convert to the Shahry packages and the connection fee for new account holders has been slashed.

"The Bundled approach offers our customers the opportunity to look at how they're using mobile phone services every month and select the package that best fits their lives. With the opportunity to have a primary number with unlimited free calls, as well as a range of call minutes and downloads built-in, we're confident that this service will provide a Shahry package that delivers the right mix of flexibility and value for everyone," concluded Al Mutawa.

The new Shahry Value Packs are part of an ongoing wave of improvements planned for 2009.
