Dihad exhibition follows three main tracks; the transfer and sharing of knowledge through its presentations, debate and dialogue; the showcasing of new trends in operational support and supply services related to the assistance domain; and networking among local, regional and global players.
Each year Dihad carries a new title which underscores the event's specific focus and direction. In its sixth edition, Dihad aims at contributing through dialogue on a number of pressing issues affecting the humanitarian domain and communities in need. It will also host the Dihad 2009 Conference which is held under the theme "Empowering Communities: From Disaster to Development".
Dihad 2009 consists of components which are part of an integrated concept that takes account of the latest trends and developments with the global assistance domain. It includes a high profile conference, an exhibition and interactive training sessions, which locates Dihad way beyond any other traditional humanitarian exhibition.
The conference:
"Empowering Communities: From Disaster to Development" is not only a title, it is a special conference of five specialized sessions each one is dedicated to a great humanitarian cause.
The first day will host a session entitled Concepts of Community in the 21st Century: Disaster and Development Challenges. In this session specialists will discuss Communities plans and reactions for Disasters and Development, and their principle Challenges. The second session will focus on community participation and empowerment, which will continue on the second day of the exhibition.
A number of specialised sessions will take place during the second day, under the title Communities and the Disaster Cycle, during which specialists will discuss:
- Building Community Resilience and Capacity for Disaster Preparedness and Response.

- Climate Change and the Global Food Crisis: How can Communities prepare and respond.

- Case Studies of Mitigation, Preparedness and Response to Disasters and other emergencies at the Community Level Urban and Rural Environments.

- Technologies, partnerships and approaches to support communities to prepare and respond to Disasters and direct their development.
On the last day, there will be two closure sessions entitled; Recovery from Disasters and Sustainable Development -Community Mobilization, and Community Empowerment and Development through Micro-Credit: Global Experience.
The sessions will end by conclusions of conference and conference declaration.
The three days conference also hosts a poster display explaining successful examples of community empowerment, development achievements, and disaster management which will be located in the exhibition area.
The conference will be addressed by prominent speakers of the humanitarian industry who will engage through their interactive sessions to bring forth relevant humanitarian issue. It will also host interactive pre-conference workshops.
