Like the PGA European Tour event, the country's national carrier is developing at a rapid pace as many of golf's household names will discover for themselves when they descend on Doha for the twelfth staging of the $2.5m event.

"As one of the country's leading sporting events it is fitting that the tournament have one of Qatar's most recognisable and successful global brands in our family of sponsors," said Qatar Golf Association President Hassan Al Nuami.

Commercialbank Group CEO Andrew Stevens added:
"At Commercialbank we firmly believe in showcasing the very best of Qatar to a worldwide audience of millions. Qatar Airways has proved time and again that it shares our passion for promoting the country not only as a wonderful business and tourism destination but also as a world-class sporting venue."

As the tournament's Official Airline, Qatar Airways will fly in world-class professionals and tournament officials who will get to experience the superior Five-Star service offered by the airline. In addition, Qatar Airways will have a dedicated hospitality suite and an outdoor exhibition for the duration of the event.

Spectators will also be encouraged to drop by to find out more about the airline's superior service both on the ground and in the sky as well as to learn about the airline's expansion plans including the launch of a new direct route to Houston in March 2009.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker expressed his delight at once again being a key supporter of the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, Presented by Dolphin Energy and hailed the 2008 event as the most successful in its history.

"Qatar Airways is once again delighted to be the official airline for what is one of the country's most esteemed and anticipated annual events," he said.

"To be a part of something which has put the State of Qatar firmly on the international sporting calendar is a privilege for Qatar Airways and, as we watch the tournament attract bigger names and more spectators each year, we are proud to be associated with the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, Presented by Dolphin Energy, an event which will undoubtedly remain a firm fixture for years to come."
