  • PRESS RELEASE

Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, has announced that it recently held discussions with John Ericson, Chief of the Outreach Unit of the United Nations (UN) Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM), who was in the UAE to meet with various government departments to discuss measures to increase the number of candidates from the UAE for positions in the UN.

The UAE, which is a Member State of the UN, is unrepresented in the Secretariat among staff posts. The Office of Human Resources Management at the UN is focused on strengthening its efforts to find suitable candidates that would help it to achieve equitable geographic distribution and gender balance among staff members in the UN Secretariat, and in line with this the OHRM had established an Outreach Unit in order to support these efforts.

Feddah Lootah, Acting General Manager, Tanmia, said:
"We appreciate this effort by OHRM to increase UAE's representation in the UN, and our meeting with John Ericson in this regard proved extremely fruitful as we agreed on the activation of employment of the UAE Nationals. He briefed us on the positions available at the Secretariat for candidates from the UAE and highlighted the key attributes that the candidates should possess to efficiently carry out job responsibilities."

"Being a Member State of the UN, it is imperative that the UAE has a strong representation. We will soon be training a few UAE Nationals registered with us who could be likely candidates for the positions available at the UN Secretariat," she concluded.
