The delegation included Kyung Taeg Kim, Chairman of Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC); Ha Young Moon, Special Advisor to the Governor for Foreign Affairs (JSP); Bok Won Joo, Director-General of JSP; In Hwan Kim, CEO of Jeju KIPA; Chul Min Lee, General Manager of JDC, and Hwan Joon Lee, Manager of JSP.
Discussions between DIC and the Jeju Island delegation focused on the possibilities for knowledge transfer on DIC's unique value proposition as a highly successful information and communications technology (ICT) cluster. Senior DIC officials including Majed Al Suwaidi, Director of Commercial Operations, and Faisal Hammoud, Commercial Operations Manager, were present at the meeting.
Malek Al Malek, Executive Director of Dubai Internet City, said:
"Dubai Internet City, a TECOM Investments flagship project, is renowned for its world class services and cutting edge infrastructure facilities on the digital front. We are delighted to welcome the delegation from Jeju Island province and showcase the distinct features of the cluster."
"Dubai Internet City has gained valuable management expertise over the years in developing the ICT cluster into one of the most favoured destinations for global corporations that are intent on expanding their regional footprint. Our discussions with the delegation from South Korean province will continue as we explore opportunities for future collaboration." he added.
Located just south of the Korean peninsula, Jeju Island is the largest and the only South Korean province that enjoys a special autonomous status. Jeju City is the capital of the island that boasts the famed Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Jeju Island delegation visit marks another step in DIC's global initiatives. Recently, a high level DIC delegation embarked on a three-city road show across Sweden and met with over 40 executives from Scandinavian companies keen on expanding their presence in the Middle East.
