This growth augurs well for Epoc Messe Frankfurt organizers of Intersec trade fair and conference, scheduled to take place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from January 18 to 20, 2009 where as many as 30 companies are showcasing products related to the biometrics field.

Global biometric revenues are projected to grow from Dhs11bn in 2007 to Dhs27.19bn in 2012. The key areas for growth include fingerprint non-AFIS biometrics followed by face recognition at and iris recognition.

Asia and the Middle East in particular are expected to be the largest global markets for biometric products and services.

Biometric technologies that will be displayed at Intersec trade fair and conference include areas such as fingerprint scan, face recognition, automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS)/live-scan, iris recognition, middleware/biometric identity management software, vein recognition, multiple-biometric, hand geometry and voice recognition.

'The biometric segment of our show will have widespread appeal to those involved in law enforcement, military, municipalities, federal government, financial services, hospitality, health care, high-tech and telecom, industrial manufacturing, retail as well as transportation,' remarked Ms. Schierholz.

Over the years, Intersec trade fair and conference has grown in stature. Intersec in 2009 will be spread across an area of 500,000 sq feet, with expected footage of over 20,000 visitors.
