Daman's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Michael Bitzer, comments:
'There is no need for any UAE National to pay in cash for any covered medical treatment, as long as he or she holds a valid Thiqa card. Daman has contracted with one of the largest network of health care providers, with more than 1515 hospitals, medical centers and pharmacies across the UAE. We have contracts in place with all these providers that stipulate that medical costs will be paid directly for thiqa members, providing the patient presents their Thiqa card at time of treatment, ensuring minimal inconvenience.'
Dr. Bitzer advised that should any UAE National holding a Thiqa card be asked by a health care provider to pay cash (except for any copayment and/or deductible amount) for any medical services, the patient should contact thiqa's 24/7 customer service department by calling the toll free number 800 4 80000
Daman is also working with its healthcare providers to remind them of the contracted protocols and the advice that should be given to thiqa patients.
More than 500,000 UAE Nationals have enrolled in the Thiqa program since its inception in June.
