In response to the overwhelming customer response to its newly-enhanced Hala Pay As You Talk service, Qtel today announced that it would hold the promotional start-up price, announced in November, as a permanent price reduction.

The Hala Pay As You Talk revamp was one of Qtel's biggest successes in 2008, creating strong new demand for prepaid mobile services, and becoming a highly attractive option for new residents and visitors. The improved package, which included off-peak rates and bonus call time when customers purchase credit of QR50 or higher credit with Hala prepaid cards, will now be a permanent service in Qatar.

Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director of Group Communications, Qtel, said:
"The success of the new Hala Pay As You Talk launch demonstrated the effectiveness of our strategy of getting closer to our customers, and listening to their requests. With such strong take-up across Qatar in November and December, it has been one of our most successful service upgrades in the company's history."

"Our practice of listening to our customers and acting on their feedback continues here today, as we have decided to make the promotional tariff a permanent price cut, in response to the positive feedback from our customers," he added.

Hala Pay As You Talk is a unique proposition allowing customers to have a mobile line and be permanently available without the need to sign any contracts or to receive monthly bills. The system has proved extremely popular with the fast-growing population of Qatar.
