Microsoft Oman strengthens operations with the appointment of Al Hosni as Public Sector Manager

In its commitment to Omanisation and continuous investment in Oman, Microsoft Oman has further strengthened its management team with the appointment of Shaikh Saif bin Hilal bin Sultan Al Hosni as Public Sector Manager.

With his extensive expertise in technology, Al Hosni's role will focus on further positioning Microsoft as the strategic partner of the Government and of the residents of Oman.

Welcoming Al Hosni, Abdullah Lootah, Country Manager, Microsoft Oman, said:
"Al Hosni's appointment is part of Microsoft's ongoing investment in Oman and in Omani skills. Al Hosni brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise which will be fully utilised to ensure a strategic cooperation with the public sector. Al Hosni will further undergo a special Microsoft training program in the USA, Europe and the Middle East."


Commenting on his appointment, Al Hosni, said:
"Microsoft has played a significant role in the development of technology and I am extremely pleased to take on this new role and to be part of the team that provides exceptional services and support to the Sultanate."


"Our objective is to maintain Microsoft as the ideal technology partner in Oman and to fully address the needs of the public sector in order to provide governments with superior and cost-effective operations," added Al Hosni.

Al Hosni earned his degrees in MSc in Information Systems at University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth - U.K, and B.Eng. (Honors) Information Technology at Staffordshire University Stafford - U.K. He has extensive experience and education in the areas of IT management, e-Government, IT projects management, and strategic planning as well as strong relationships within the IT community in Oman and the various government organisations.

Prior to his role at Microsoft, Al Hosni was the Director of the Computer Department at the Ministry of Finance, managing the complete daily operation of the department and all the ministry's critical IT platforms and operations.

Prior to that, Al Hosni was the Director of Computer Centre at the College of Sharia and Law, responsible for the complete operations of the computer department and all its units and services. He also worked as System Analyst at Oman International Bank where he designed and developed different software applications using RGP language and SQL.

Among the projects he has undertaken, Al Hosni was a member of the technical team responsible for reviewing the portal specifications of UbarPortal - Oman Government Service Portal, E-Visa and visitors system, E-Tendering, E-payments Gateway. He was also the Project Manager for connecting the Ministry of Finance to the government network and connecting various government bodies accessing the ministry systems remotely.
