The main objective of this visit was to witness the ceasing of the 1 million cycles (opening and closing the PSD doors) which was ongoing continuously for about 6 months. Then, dismantle all major components of the PSD and carry out a careful inspection. A team of experts from RTA, the Contractor and Engineer witnessed the inspection. Given the critical function of the PSDs, the life cycle test is an important milestone for the verification of its reliability and durability performance.

Adnan Al Hammadi, Director of Rail Projects Construction, said:
"All the PSD parts require thorough inspection. The PSD has vital functions and interfaces with vital systems such as the ATC (Automatic Train Control). Platform Screen Doors have great advantages for Dubai metro. Using PSD improves passenger safety, improves passenger comfort, provides climate/environmental control, improves train availability, enhances the architectural design of station platform and provides surface for information display and potential advertising."

There will be 14 PSDs at each platform of the station. The doors automatically open and close in a synchronous manner with Train stopping and departing cycle. The system is designed with international highest standard of safety. The completion of installing all the PSDs in Dubai is expected early next year.
