  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, January 07 - 2009 at 10:24
  • PRESS RELEASE

Tecom Investments, a member of Dubai Holding, today announced it is launching a humanitarian aid campaign to collect medical supplies, clothing and non-perishable food items in support of the suffering Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Items that can be donated include first aid kits, personal hygiene products, medical supplies, tents, blankets (new and if used, in good condition), canned food (no meat), and clothes (new and if used, in good condition). Collection points for donations are located at Dubai Media City Building No.2 and Building No.14, and are accessible 24 hours a day for the duration of the campaign.

Tecom Investments welcomes contributions to the humanitarian campaign not only from employees, group entities and Business Partners, but also from the general public including the residents of Al-Barsha, Dubai Marina and Jebel Ali as well as other surrounding communities.

Abdullatif Almulla, Group CEO of Tecom Investments, said:
"The appalling humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza demands massive relief efforts and the Tecom campaign signifies our contribution to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians. It is our firm conviction that extensive participation by everyone at Tecom that also involves the neighbouring communities will considerably enhance our contribution towards this effort."

"We are greatly concerned with the current situation in Gaza and we are eager to contribute to the welfare of the Palestinians. Tecom employees and Business Partners have always been proactive in their support for humanitarian campaigns and we are confident an increased enthusiasm from the wider Dubai community will enormously complement this urgent and much needed relief effort," he added.

Over 1.4 million Gazans are facing a humanitarian disaster with a dire shortage of food and medical supplies. Several international organizations, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) and the World Food Programme, have asked Israel to halt military operations to allow them sufficient time to deliver the much needed supplies.
