The heavily contended Savola Group pitch, one of the three largest media reviews this year in the Kingdom, saw OMD Arabia being renewed on the account with an expanded brief.

In addition to continuing with its responsibilities over the Afia International Company and United Sugar Company, it has now added the Azizia Panda Unit retail business.

The Savola Group first appointed OMD Arabia in 2005 to work on United Sugar Company's brands. The following year saw the addition of the oil and food brands, now under the Afia International Company banner. After some three years on the account, the Savola Group called for a review, which was concluded earlier this month.

Five agencies took part, with a final head-to-head between OMD Arabia and another leading media agency. The result of this consolidation is that all of Savola Group's brands and business across its operating markets will now be handled by OMD Arabia.

"This pitch was designed to identify the best partner to consolidate all our businesses and brands under one roof", commented Fareed Khaja, senior media & research manager - ME at Savola Group. "We were after harnessing all potential synergies for the benefit of all our brands. OMD stood out because it demonstrated how its tactical media planning, competitive media buying and optimized budget allocation deliver results for every single brand. We look forward to a positive impact on all our KPIs across the group."

"We see this result as the validation of our work for Savola Group," explained Choucrallah Abou Samra, managing director of OMD Arabia. "We've shown our worth three times since 2005 and every time, we've grown our relationship with them. It's a fantastic pat on the back for our team and their understanding of Savola Group's businesses and priorities. We have a corporate and brand view that has allowed us to make the difference for them."

Since 2005, the Savola Group has expanded its business and brands across the region and beyond, now reaching parts of Africa and Asia.
