Le Méridien Al Aqah donates Dhs36,000 to children of Gaza

The management of Le Méridien Al Aqah has transformed all of the New Year festivities into financial support of Dhs36,000 for the children of Gaza, who are suffering the unspeakable horrors of the Israeli war-crime machine.

Following the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to show solidarity with the Palestinian people who are currently enduring death, suffering and destruction in Gaza; Patrick Antaki, General Manager, Le Méridien Al Aqah said that hotel management called off all outdoor New Year's celebrations which were scheduled for December 31, 2008, including the fireworks which were the highlight of the evening.

The management of Le Méridien Al Aqah will donate the funds raised to the Red Crescent organization, which will deliver the donation to the support program.

The total collection of Dhs36,000 includes the contributions made by guests, and will be delivered to the Red Crescent branch office in Fujairah this week.

Antaki said:
"The guests expressed their resentment and condemnation of the siege and killing in Gaza Strip, this voluntary donation shows the extent of their support to those who are facing the Israeli aggression in Gaza."


"A number of the young guests from different nationalities showed goodwill when they expressed their wish to donate their daily pocket money, while some of them wanted to donate their personal toys to the injured children as a symbol of sympathy with the Palestinian people against occupation and aggression," added Antaki.
