- Bahrain: Saturday, January 10 - 2009 at 11:50
- PRESS RELEASE
Batelco, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, has initiated a number of programmes to support citizens of Gaza.
By sending 1 to 99111 customers will be donating BD1 towards humanitarian aid in Gaza. The amount will be deducted from Prepaid customers' call credit accounts and will appear on Postpaid customers' next telephone bill. There is no charge for sending the SMS message.
With the aim of assisting those who have family and friends in the troubled zone and make it easier for them to keep in touch, call rates have been reduced by 50% for IDD calls to Palestine from Mobiles, Fixed, Payphones and Prepaid Calling Cards for a one month period. The discounted prices are available around the clock, every day of the week.
An internal campaign has also been launched to collect funds from Batelco staff who would like to contribute to the noble cause.
Furthermore, Batelco's Chairman Shaikh Hamad Bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa has presented a cheque of BD100,000 to Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of The National Bahraini Committee for the Support of Palestinians, who are providing humanitarian aid to alleviate hardship for those suffering in Gaza.
All funds collected through the external and internal drives will be handed to The National Bahraini Committee for the Support of Palestinians.
