The appointment of Ahmed Al Mamari a UAE national, as Vice President Technical with immediate effect, reflects both H.E. Sheikh Hamdan's vision and the company's commitment to nurture and succession plan highly competent UAE Nationals into senior management and leadership roles at Royal Jet.

Reporting directly to Shane O'Hare, President & Chief Executive Officer, Al Mamari's role will include leading Royal Jet's maintenance and engineering team in the continual delivery of safe, reliable aircraft. At the same time he is tasked with improving maintenance and engineering processes in the face of escalating costs as a result of the current, tough global economic situation.

O'Hare said that Royal Jet had entered 2009 in an upbeat mood and is gearing up to handle an even higher level of new business in the next 12 months.

"There is no ignoring the effects of the current global downturn, and we need to closely examine every element of our business from line maintenance, logistics and procurement to flight management and aircraft acquisition to ensure optimum operation. Ahmed's appointment and his responsibilities will therefore be integral to Royal Jet successfully implementing its ambitious operating plan for 2009," he said.

Al Mamari is a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, USA with a degree in Aviation Maintenance technology and Avionics. Prior to joining Royal Jet in 2005, he held numerous senior management engineering positions with ADAT (formerly GAMCO) and was most recently Director of Material Management. Prior to this he held the interim role of Acting VP Maintenance & Engineering.

"I am delighted to be given this opportunity to head a highly-skilled, 170-strong technical department," he said. "This is a challenging time for virtually all service industries but my goal is to ensure that targets are met and the high level of quality service our customers have come to expect is maintained."

Al Mamari's team will control aircraft line maintenance, base maintenance tasks up to C-Check standards on Gulfstream and Learjet aircraft, full material support for Royal Jet and Amiri flight fleet operations, maintenance control and planning functions, ground handling and the FBO (fixed base operations) facility.
