Dubai Shopping Festival Office announces DSF 2009 Journalism Award

The Dubai Shopping Festival Office has announced the DSF 2009 Journalism Awards with innovative categories and a special jury that is set to inspire committed and creative journalism throughout DSF this year.
The categories for this year include Best Local Feature (local newspapers), Best Magazine Feature (local and regional magazines), Best Design Layout (local newspapers), DSF Prolific Writer (local newspapers), and Best Pan Arab Feature (regional newspapers).
The Best Design Layout category will be awarded to one team of a newspaper and the Best Pan Arab Feature will have one winner. All other categories will have a winners and a runners-up prize in both English and Arabic. Apart from a trophy and a citation, winners will receive a cash prize of $7000 while runners-up will receive $5000.
The 2009 Journalism Award will also feature a jury comprising of eminent media scholars and personalities in the country.
Entries for the Award will be judged on an evaluation criteria based on the style of writing, quality of research, quality of content, overall presentation, creativity in news angle, and the overall impact of the story.
Applications forms are available at the DSF Office located on the first floor of the Department of Economic Development along Baniyas Road in Deira. Alternatively, the forms can be downloaded from the DSF website www.mydsf.ae beginning January 15. The last date for submitting entries is February 8, 2009.
