Du pledges support to 'Aid Them' campaign in aid of Palestinians

Du, the UAE's integrated telecom service provider, has pledged support to the humanitarian campaign 'Aid Them', launched under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to provide aid to the Gaza victims.

Du announces that it will double the sum collected through 'Aid Them' SMS campaign contributed by Du customers. The 'Aid Them' campaign though will continue till 5 February 2009 after which Du will forward the total amount to the UAE Red Crescent.

Osman Sultan, CEO, Du, said:
"It is only with unified efforts that we can help our Palestinian brothers in Gaza. Even as we announce our support for the 'Aid Them' campaign, it is heartening to see the strong support we have received from customers and employees in our previously-launched fund-raisers. We urge our customers once again to come forward and provide their wholehearted support."

Other Du fund-raising campaigns for Palestinians in Gaza:


The support for the 'Aid Them' campaign follows Du's announcement on a two-fold fundraising campaign involving employees and SMS campaign involving Du customers last week. Du customers are able contribute to the campaign by sending an SMS 'Gaza' to a Du short code '1000'.

Du is also offering a 50% discount on calls to Gaza (+970) originating in the UAE.

Du has already collected more than Dhs266,468/- so far through the contribution of 491 Du employees and raised more than Dhs189,570/- by way of customer SMS campaign through short code 1000.

Both campaigns (internal and code 1000) conclude on 15 January 2009 following which Du will forward the proceeds to UAE Red Crescent.

Du, the integrated telecom service provider in the UAE, was awarded the second license to operate fixed and mobile telecommunications services in February 2006. The company launched its 'Du' brand in the same month and listed 20% of its shares on the Dubai Financial Market in April 2006.
