Qatar Projects is the only conference of its type to cover all sectors that are shaping the future of Qatar including oil and gas, finance and investment, mega infrastructure, construction and real estate, power and energy, education and tourism and.

Edmund O'Sullivan, Chairman MEED Events, said:
"Qatar is currently the world's fastest growing economy. It is a thriving and rapidly expanding project market that is insulated from the worst effects of the current global economic crisis as a result of its massive oil, gas and financial capital reserves."

Regional and international decision-makers and stakeholders will be present at the two day conference to discuss new projects, issues and trends, and explore the wealth of business opportunities in both the energy and non-energy sectors in Qatar.

Whilst continuing to develop the energy sector, major opportunities currently exist in both the upstream and downstream hydrocarbons project markets. The Qatari government is also setting major targets for the non energy sector and it has made available a $130bn fund to develop the State's infrastructure and diversify its economy in line with its ambitious target of zero dependence on oil by 2020.

Speaking about the forthcoming conference George Nasra, Managing Director of IBQ, said, "We are proud to be associated with such a high level conference as MEED's Qatar Projects 2009, which for the past six years has proven its success in highlighting the wealth of opportunities available in Qatar. In spite of the current worldwide economic turmoil, Qatar's economy remains stable and is continuing with its ambitious vision of developing a knowledge based economy. We are pleased to be part of a conference that is bringing together leading experts to explore the different opportunities that contribute to Qatar's development."
