RTA completes first phase of Transition Training of Licensing

Licensing Agency at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) completed first phase of Transition Training for Driving Instructors and Examiners as part of the ongoing plan; and the course is expected to be completed by Licensing Agency in June 2009.

Ali Jassim, Director Drivers Licensing Dep't at RTA Licensing Agency, said:
"Phase I was a 5-week train the trainer program parallel courses for 16 Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) and 15 Heavy Vehicle (HV) instructors. This was started in 16th November and completed in 18th December 2008."


Jassim added, "The project as a whole aims to transform Drivers Licensing System in Dubai to be in line with Dubai's vision of providing safe and smooth transport for all."

"The Agency was keen to honour the participants in Phase I of the Transition Training in a simple graduation ceremony to the successful participants. After successfully achieving the required competencies, these instructors are now officially called "Training Officers" in recognition of the achievements made by these trainees under this Transition Training, and to encourage other trainees throughout the duration of the project which is expected to last until June 2009," added Jassim.

Ali Jassim also expressed his thanks and appreciation of the management of the 5 driving schools. "Their partnership, generous support and active participation that will no doubt lead to the successful completion of this project" he said. Al Jassim likewise highlighted the strategic importance of this project in the realization of the mission and vision of RTA. "While this project has a long way to go and will not be easy, we are overly confident that the will to obtain the active support of everyone involved, and the shared objective of improving road safety in Dubai will drive us ahead to deliver this project."

Al Jassim praised the partners of RTA in this Program of Transition Training particularly Vic Roads International and DECA Solutions from Victoria Australia who guided the training officers to achieve competencies in several areas namely; train the trainer, road law, deliver and monitor customer service, safe and efficient driving, motor vehicle instruction method as well as skills test vehicle inspection. The 2nd Phase of this project, which is the training of all examiners will commence, will start in early January 2009.

On his part, the Director of Drivers Training and Qualifying Mahmoud Hussein Al Marzooqi emphasized the seriousness of RTA Licensing Agency to provide the very best international practices in the field of drivers training and licensing. He emphasized the enormous responsibility, and the huge importance of role tasked to them in bringing success to this project. "RTA will extend the fullest support and cooperation to the training officers and to their respective driving schools as they proceed in conducting training to the rest of instructors," he concluded.
