The meeting will be chaired by Honorary Rohitha Bogollagama, Minister of Foreign Affairs on January 14th and 15th.

Heba Al Ghais Al Mansoori, Middle East Director of SLTPB, said:
"Arabs are looking for new and unexplored destinations within close proximity and Sri Lanka which is only a couple of hours flying time away has what it takes to attract Arabs."

"For a small island, Sri Lanka offers a truly amazing variety of attractions. The coasts are studded with palm-lined beaches, some with world-class surf breaks, there are a lot of cultural attractions, elephant-led festival processions, Buddhist statues and towering stupas of the ancient capitals of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa," Ms. Al Mansoori said.

"If you go to the Hill Country the plains will fade away to reveal rolling green hills carpeted with tea plantations and there are also some very well-preserved national parks inhabited by elephants, leopards, monkeys, crocodiles and rare birdlife," Ms Al Mansoori said.

The GCC is one of Sri Lanka's major travel origin markets and in 2008 Sri Lanka has witnessed significant growth from Gulf travellers.
