Central Bank and USAID conclude the re-implementation of Oracle e-Business Suite

The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) and USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ) today celebrated the on-time completion of the project to re-implement CBJ's Oracle e-Business Suite (EBS).

Attending the project closure meeting at the Central Bank were the Bank's Deputy Governors Mr Mohammed Saeed Shaheen and Mrs Kholoud Al Saqqaf, officials from USAID, and other staff.

CBJ approached USAID's Economic Development Program (SABEQ) for support on a variety of activities and applications that would enhance CBJ's performance including the re-implementation of the Oracle e-Business Suite. Although the EBS modules were adopted by CBJ as early as 2001, application configuration settings were not fully leveraged to provide effective business support for CBJ operations.

The primary objective of this two-phased project was to assist the CBJ preserve and maximize its return on the Oracle e-Business suite investment.

The project addressed technology factors such as application functionality and technical infrastructure, as well as non-technology factors including underlying business processes, organizational factors and staff training and change management. Furthermore, the project identified potential business process areas where the application technology and capabilities of the software suite may not have been fully utlilized in the past and made recommendations for the future.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Laith Al Qasem, Chief of Party, USAID Jordan Economic Development Program SABEQ, highlighted the rewarding experience the Program have had while working alongside CBJ "Bank officials demonstrated utmost dedication in applying themselves fully towards the timely successful completion of the project. We look forward to further mutual cooperation with CBJ," he said.

On his part HE Mohammad Saeed Shaheen, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Jordan said, "We would like to thank SABEQ on its support which allowed the Bank to benefit from its investment in the Oracle system which will improve business processes and allow us to adopt best business practices. We look forward to future cooperation with SABEQ."
