  • PRESS RELEASE

Committed to solving sustainable development issues, Narges' mission is to promote, protect, manage and ensure the sustainable use of renewable natural resources, with the aim of improving human well being.

At Environment 2009 in Abu Dhabi (UAE) from 19th to 21st January, this French company will present its new portfolio of services devoted to natural environments that present challenges, in partnership with the consulting firm ECO-MED 'Ecology and Mediation'.

Narges' actions aim to encourage sustainable development through operational management of the environment as part of the worldwide implementation of Agenda 21 and the associated Multilateral Environmental Agreements (UNFCCC, UNCBD & UNCCD).

Locally, this manifests as the protection of natural resources and of the biological heritage, the fight against land degradation, the exploitation and sustainable use of renewable natural resources, the building up of local and institutional capacities - with the aim of making the different stakeholders (researchers, developers, decision-makers, and civil society) aware of the best practices when it comes to environmental governance.

With a field of actions that extends from the Mediterranean regions to the arid zones, Narges has developed intervention methods based on:
- technical assistance with the elaboration and implementation of environmental projects.
- expertise and advice for setting up strategies for the sustainable management of natural resources, and designing long-term monitoring and assessment mechanisms in order to evaluate the environmental impacts and effects of development projects.
- training on the sustainable management of the natural environment and of biodiversity.

Today, Narges is broadening the scope of its activities by implementing a portfolio of multidisciplinary skills, aimed to ensure the sustainable management of natural environments that present challenges. This project is being developed in partnership with ECO-MED, specialist in natural environment, land management and planning in urban and rural contexts and enhancement of natural environments in the Mediterranean and the French alpine regions.

To achieve it, ECO-MED is pooling together the skills of its teams of specialised scientific experts in plant and animal ecology and environmentalists, who assist and consult companies, local authorities, and Government departments, by:
- performing environmental assessments (ecological inventories in the field, diagnoses, legal environmental studies, natural environment management plans, landscape ecology studies...).
- advising and providing technical and scientific support.
- providing adapted theoretical and practical professional training.
- creating method guides and specialised tools (Geographic Information Systems, database management).

Narges has a vast network of contacts regionally, nationally and internationally, mainly in France, Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa region (MENA), and in the countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
