This year will thrive with exciting events guaranteed to entice GCC visitors to visit the UK to get a taste of Britain's luxury and rich cultural heritage.

VisitBritain will collaborate with VisitScotland to promote 'Homecoming Scotland 2009', an initiative created by the Scottish government to celebrate Scotland's unique contributions to the world. 'Homecoming Scotland' is a year-long, country-wide programme of exciting events to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns, ensuring continuous entertainment for the whole year.

A programme of over a hundred events will be held in 2009, kicking off with Burns Night, on 25th January, when the 250th birthday anniversary of Scottish poet, Robert Burns will be celebrated, and will continue through to St Andrews day, on 30th November.

According to Carol Maddison, Marketing Manager, VisitBritain UAE, "During their holidays, people increasingly look forward to escapes to the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of their daily life. The events taking place in Scotland throughout the year present the ideal opportunity for GCC visitors to yield to the desire to take refuge in Scotland's beautiful countryside and enjoy its spirit and warmth."

VisitBritain is also promoting the UK via the campaign 'Journeys of a Lifetime' designed to present the very best of British luxury products.

"The campaign is a collection of the finest hotels and spas in the UK, focusing on high-end lifestyle elements such as golf, shopping, spas, cars etc. The gist of the campaign is to inspire the Middle East market to experience unique, relaxing holidays in the midst of luxury,"

said Maddison.
