As a part of its plan to provide the best technologies to support the vision of Sheikh Mohammad Al Maktoum's e-government initiatives, Global Information Technology (GIT), one of the leading IT system integrators in the UAE and the Middle East, along with its Australian solution partner Centaur Software have joined forces to create the first automated Dentistry system in the entire Middle Eastern region for Dubai's Department of Health and Medical services (DOHMS). The Dental practice management system called Dental4Windows has been implemented smoothly and went online this week in 17 different hospitals and clinics throughout the UAE with more to come.

The UAE based IT company GIT and Dubai's Department of Health and Medical services (DOHMS) are very proud of this initiative seeing that it will make the communications and transactions between doctors and patients more secure, a lot easier and much more efficient, saving essential time and money. With the new Dental4Windows initiative, doctors can say goodbye to the millions of paper documents involving patient medical history and profile information and instead can access the patient's medical details through their medical card from anywhere in seconds. Doctors are then able to keep track of their patient's details electronically and can share their patient's medical information with other authorized doctors, giving the doctor more time with the patient and making the visit to the dentist's office as easy and smooth as possible.

Booking appointments, providing sick leaves and analyzing reports can all be done and stored into the system and can be updated by the patient's doctor automatically. The information inside the system can also be used as a useful marketing tool for medical clinics with its option to calculate how many patients visited the specified clinic and what dental work has the patient done during past visits. DOHMS Dental Centre director, Tariq Khoory, commended this initiative and said that the improvement of healthcare services demonstrate a great step forward to the dental medical field within the UAE government and aim at continuously providing better services to patients as well as a more efficient working environment to hospital personnel.
