One of the highlights of the tournament will be the presence of past champions who have been specially invited by 'golf in Dubai' - the promoters and organisers of the event - as part the tournament's 20th anniversary celebrations.
"Omega's role in promoting sports is internationally recognised and we are delighted to have them once again on board for what we believe will be a superb event. We are working hard to ensure that the event provides a memorable experience to all those who attend," said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, Vice Chairman and CEO of golf in Dubai.
As co-sponsor, Omega has enthusiastically sponsored a wide-range of events in the UAE sporting community, and their level of commitment has been a real asset in developing the Dubai Desert Classic into a first class event which garners strong attention worldwide.
Raynald Aeschlimann, Vice President, Omega, points out:
"Omega's involvement in golf is longstanding and includes such world-renowned tournaments as the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, the Dubai Ladies Masters and the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in China. We are particularly looking forward to returning to the Dubai Desert Classic."
The prestige watchmaker Omega was founded in 1848 and has since continually set the pace in the many fields of horological excellence: from precision competitions, sports timekeeping, and design awards to watches for professional use in space or underwater, Omega has long been defined by its extraordinary achievements and its pioneering spirit. In Beijing in 2008, Omega was the Official Olympic Timekeeper for the 23rd time and will follow suit in Vancouver in 2010 and London in 2012.
'golf in Dubai' is backed by Dubal (Dubai Aluminium) as the main partner and Emirates-NBD, MasterCard, Jumeirah Hotels, Emirates Airline, BMW, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Gulf News, Omega and CNN as partners in its drive to showcase the Emirate's vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
