ADU gears up for spring semester

Abu Dhabi University will be offering a total of 27 Bachelor and Master Programs for the upcoming spring semester which is scheduled to begin on the 1st of February 2009.
The program focuses on environmental problems and explores all possible solutions. Environmental problems have become a global concern for which all countries are aiming to find solutions to them and provide support the research in this field.
Dr. Nabil A. Ibrahim, the ADU Chancellor, noted that all programs and specializations being offered at the university are aligned to meet the market needs in the country, to open new educational horizons for graduates and to help them advance their careers, while making a positive contribution to the national prosperity.
He added that the number of Master students was 648 during the previous semester, while the number of students expected to enroll for the coming semester is 400 on both of the university's campuses (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain). The total number of currently enrolled students stands at 3800.
Dr. Nabil continued by mentioning that the College of Engineering and Computer Science will be offering a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program, which focuses on the designing and decoration of indoor facilities essential to modern life.
The program was designed to meet Abu Dhabi's market that is witnessing a remarkable growth in construction and real estate which will require modern designers who are capable of contributing to the design of modern facilities to match the requirements of the modern world and the well-being of the people. Moreover, the College is also offering a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture which focuses on the construction of outdoor facilities essential to modern life, as well as the growth of the construction industry in Abu Dhabi.
In addition to the previously mentioned programs, the College is also offering a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management program, which aims to direct and administer the construction of several facilities essential to modern life, ranging from bridges to transit systems, while contributing to other needs which target the welfare of the individual and society.
The College of Business Administration will be offering Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management program that aims to prepare students to enter the job market by making them aware of the principles of administration, marketing, and customer services.
Dr. Mohamed Khalifa, Dean of the College of Business Administration, noted that the college is ready to welcome its new students for its Master programs which will be offered this spring semester. This includes programs such as the Master of Business Administration that aims to produce graduates who will be prepared to advance into top managerial positions in marketing, finance, accounting, human resources and other departments in both the private and public sectors of the economy.
The program offers the best combination of a small, intimate learning environment and cutting-edge classes taught by an internationally acclaimed faculty.
The College of Business Administration will also be offering a Master of Science in Finance that will produce financial leaders with advanced and applied financial research capabilities within the context of today's dynamic global financial world. It is an intense, immersive educational experience unrivaled for the breadth and depth of its course offerings.
The program provides an innovative curriculum of sophisticated courses that builds a strong foundation in the principles and practices of finance and introduces emerging concepts, practices, and technology used in the finance industry. The program develops the analytical and creative capabilities of students to conduct research on the problems of finance led by internationally recognized senior faculty with outstanding records of scholarship. MSc Finance graduates will become more analytical thinkers through the process of scientific inquiry.
Dr. Aly Nazmy, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, noted that the College will be offering a Master of Science in Computer Science that has been designed to specifically prepare smart, new, innovative, multi-skilled ICT knowledge professionals who will become the ICT leaders and executives of the future. They will be equipped to build the emerging dynamic, global information age by combining the study of computer science methodologies - components of software systems, telecommunications and multimedia technologies - with the study of information systems.
Dr. Ahmed El Nimeiri, Acting Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said that the college will be offering Master of Leadership and Master of Teaching and Learning programs. The Master of Leadership will help graduates to demonstrate that they have acquired the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for effective team and school leadership at elementary, secondary and post-secondary educational levels.
While the mission of the Master of Teaching and Learning program is to graduate educational specialists who have the professional knowledge and pedagogical skills and attitudes essential for teaching and learning process at schools. In addition to these programs, the college also offers MA in Translation and MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
