The company was ranked as the 52nd largest firm globally by the magazine's January 2009 issue, which annually publishes the World Architecture Top 100, a unique, definitive listing of the world's largest architecture practices.

As architectural firms depend on more than just architects for their success, World Architecture Top 100 last year introduced a major new list, giving firms the opportunity to record the number of creative people they employ, including interior, graphic and product designers, landscape architects, urban designers and engineers. Again, Dewan made the Top 100.

The data for the rankings was gathered by UK communications agency Camargue, on behalf of Building Design Magazine. With these rankings, Dewan's position within the World's Top 100 Architectural Firms additionally reconfirms the firm's standing as one of the pioneering and leading firms in the UAE and the region.

Mohamed Al Assam, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Dewan Architects & Engineers, committed:
"Over the last 25 years, Dewan has built a strong reputation, an extensive client base, and a portfolio of successful projects by serving most of the leading blue chip developers, corporate and VIP clients in the UAE and beyond. These rankings serve as proof that our hard work and solid practices have paid off. It is an accolade that testifies to everyone's passion and dedication over the years to build a firm that we can truly be very proud of."

Dewan Architects & Engineers is considered one of the largest architectural and engineering consulting firms in the region with over 300 professionals distributed between its UAE, Philippines, and Iraq offices. The original practice was established in 1973 in Iraq, with the company rapidly expanding its operations to the UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) under the name of Dewan Architects & Engineers, where it subsequently established itself as a frontrunner in the A&E space.

The company, which has worked on some of the region's most prestigious projects, including The Fairmont Hotel & Resort in Abu Dhabi, Aquarius Gate Complex in Dubai Waterfront, The Green Community Marriot Courtyard Hotel & Residential Apartments in Dubai, United Square Mixed Use Complex Abu Dhabi, The One Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, and The Ibn Batutta Shopping Mall in Dubai, boasts a multi-billion dollar order book with contracts in more than 10 countries spanning the GCC, North Africa and Asia.

In addition, the company's portfolio includes hundreds of other residential and commercial towers, shopping centers, industrial complexes, healthcare projects, and governmental buildings and complexes.

"We are delighted to have been able to contribute to the overall growth of the property sector in the region, and stand proud knowing that our designs today serve as major landmarks. We will continue our vision, focusing on designing quality projects, further strengthening our leadership position in the market. We look forward to continued prosperity for our company and our dedicated team at the firm." said Ammar Al Assam, Executive Director of Dewan Architects & Engineers.
