Golf pro Graeme Storm joins the GAC sports sponsorship stable

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, January 18 - 2009 at 16:37
  • PRESS RELEASE

European Tour star golfer, Graeme Storm, is the latest sportsman to sign a sponsorship deal with global logistics and shipping company GAC.

Storm started out as an amateur with an impressive record, competing in the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup side in 1999 and winning Amateur Championship in the same year. He made headlines at the Augusta National in 2000, the year he turned professional, when he was the first player in the history of the tournament to have his mother caddie for him.

He is now headed to the Middle East to start his Race to Dubai campaign after clinching his maiden title in Open de France ALSTOM and continuing to compete on the European Golf Tour. Last year, he finished the Johnnie Walker Championships at Gleneagles as runner-up, one of his three top ten finishes in the season. By the end of 2008, Storm ranked 50th in the European Order of Merit.

GAC's sponsorship deal covers the 2009 Race to Dubai and European Tour, during which the GAC brand will be seen on Storm's T-shirt.

Brand-building

Bill Hill, Group Vice President, Logistics Services said, "Sport is a key brand-building platform for GAC, and sponsoring Graeme Storm enables us to further widen our global brand visibility to customers, partners, suppliers and employees. Our sponsorship of Storm parallels existing relationships with Crystal Palace FC, pro golfer Richard Sterne, Formula 3's Viktor Jensen and Palmer Audi Championship driver Alex Brundle, and will carry the GAC brand into living rooms around the world."

With its headquarters in Dubai, GAC makes the perfect sponsor for the 2009 season. As brand ambassador, Storm will attend and support GAC corporate golf events as well as appear in international tournaments under the GAC banner. He will make his first public appearance for GAC at the luxurious Jebel Ali Golf Club in Dubai on 26 January, before competing in the renowned Dubai Desert Classic. GAC clients will have the chance to mingle with the latest addition to the Group's stable of sponsored sportsmen before Storm visits GAC's corporate headquarters at the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
