Worshippers will be able to view a variety of information from the screens including specific occasions, prayer timings, verses, morals and greetings; these LCD screens will also be used to present live lectures from main mosques in the country. Aside from information postings, these LCD screens will also serve as video conference facilities for the imam's meetings.
"Part of our mission is to make information available to our fellow Muslims as well as details regarding proper practices to be followed. In line with this mission we decided that use of technology would help us achieve this to the benefit of all,"
said Dr. Mohammed Al Kaabi, General Manager of GAIAE.
Khaled Al Neyadi, GAIAE's Assistant GM for Institutional & Support Services added, "We selected Alpha Data foremost out of a number of proposals because of their extensive experience in large multimedia projects. They were able to work with our requirement and proposed an extremely effective solution making this installation the very first in the region. The replicating software will completely replace manual updating of information wherein every mosque would have to be visited and their digital signage updated one by one by a GAIAE representative."
Each LCD screen has a built-in PC facility and GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) module and will be connected to the main server located in the control room at the GAIAE office. All information entered in the main server will automatically be updated on every LCD in the mosques nationwide.
"We are honoured to have been selected by GAIAE. This deployment marks an important milestone for both Alpha Data and GAIAE," said Fadi Ramadan, Division Manager for ELV Systems, Multimedia & Security of Alpha Data.
The installation for the first 250 mosques commences in October and is expected to be completed by March.
