Visitors to Stand 101, Hall 2 will have the unique opportunity to see a stand design with a creative yet sustainable "mindset."

EAD adopted a carefully considered approach to issues such as stand construction, use of water and waste disposal. Under the theme "Think Green", EAD aims to not only help reduce a negative impact on the environment but also to set an example for other exhibitors that an exhibition stand can be practical and environmentally friendly at the same time. The exhibition stand, which measures 90 sq. m, is made of recycled wooden surfaces and features bamboo as one of the fastest growing renewable resources on the planet. Moreover, EAD reduced use of paper in pre-show marketing as it issued an electronic advertisement to its partners, rather than paper-based advertising and leaflets. EAD also plans to re-use the different parts of this stand for future exhibitions.

Visitors will have the chance to meet EAD experts and learn more about projects in different fields such as air quality, water, waste, pollution, biodiversity and Climate Change.

According to EAD, there are several easy ways to 'green' your exhibition stand:

1. Use natural daylight as much as possible.
2. Use lightweight recyclable and reusable material
3. Reduce use of plastics, paper and water in pre and post-show marketing.

On January 20, 2009, four of EAD's experts will speak at the Green Energy Showcase. They are Dr. Waleed bin Braik, Manager of Permitting and Enforcement; Dr. Mohammed Dawoud, Manager of Natural Resources Department; Hazem Qawasmeh, Manager of Environmental Management and Protection Policy and Osama Al Faqir, Assistant Manager, Wildlife Enforcement.

EAD's experts will highlight the Agency's efforts in achieving better air quality in the Emirate. They will inform the public about the newly-launched Air Quality Website and Online Index that provide essential information for the public.

They will also highlight the use of solar energy for water production and the environmentally-friendly desert camps in the Emirate. Visitors will be able to hear about pilot projects such as a Solar Thermal Desalination Plant and Remote Controlled Subsurface Irrigation System. These projects are Kyoto Protocol-compliant and generate clean energy and significantly fewer greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide emissions.

Moreover, EAD will be promoting awareness on the Greenhouse Gases Emission Inventory for Abu Dhabi Emirate, which will be established by 2013. In addition, visitors will be able to learn about the UAE's 2nd National Communications for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Visitors will also be able to learn about how solar panels have been used in remote areas in the Emirate, including their use at an Animal Welfare Center.
