Organized by MediaScope, this event is the third consecutive Web Awards that takes place in Jordan since 2006.

The Jordan Web Awards is the first and only Award in the Kingdom that aims at recognizing Jordanian talents in designing and developing websites. The Jordan Web Awards also contributes to protecting creative designers and developed intellectual property, which in return encourages the creators to showcase their websites and be more involved in IT.

More than 150 Website designers and developers whether freelancers, Webmasters for governmental, non-governmental or private sector websites will be participating in this year's Jordan Web Awards, representing more than 30 different companies in Jordan.

The Award covers 27 categories in various sectors that include Banks & Financial Institutions, E-Commerce, Education, Fashion and Clothing, Governmental Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, International Organizations, Health Services, Industrial Sector, Media and Press, Personal websites, Travel and Tourism, Transportation and Real Estate among many others.

Zeid Nasser, Managing Director of MediaScope and JWA organizer, said, "We launched the Jordan Web Awards in 2006 based on the fact that the Pan Arab Web Awards proved to be a remarkable success across the region." He added "For the last two years, we have received positive feedback from both the sponsors and the participants, which makes us extremely excited and optimistic about this year's event. We are looking forward to organizing yet another successful event, which we hope will serve our national IT sector and further contribute to its growth."

Mr. Pierre Moukarzel, the Founder and Chairman of the Pan Arab Web Awards stated:
"The Jordan Web Awards is a member of the Pan Arab Web Awards and was created to recognize excellence in web design and development skills in Jordan. The event aims at bringing together Web design companies, freelancers and web owners in a competition for the best website in each of the designated 27 categories. Having the reputation of being one of the top award programs in Jordan and the region, we expect this year's awards to attract even more participants and be even more successful than previous events."

In each category, three winners will receive Gold, Silver or Bronze Awards. The Diamond Award, the most prestigious Award, is presented to the best website in Jordan. Additionally, the companies with the most awards in various categories will receive special rewards. Winners are selected based on an evaluation of a specialized judging committee that includes experts in website design and development. The evaluation and selection process will be applied under special criteria designated according to specific high-level standards.

The winners of the Jordan Web Awards may represent the Kingdom at the Pan Arab Web Awards 2009 that will be held at Burj Al Arab in Dubai in April. The competition will include participants from Arab countries such as Lebanon, UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait.

The Jordan Web Awards 2008 is sponsored by a number of leading IT companies including TE Data as the Platinum Sponsor, the Gold Sponsors being Taqarub Communication and Maktoob.com, and the Silver Sponsors being Talasim.com, Khabir.com, GraphEast, Mazaj FM, Al Ghad Newspaper and Al Waseet Newspaper. The event is organized in cooperation with the MoICT, Microsoft, Business Software Alliance (BSA), Jordan Computer Society and Intaj.
