The Islanders then return for the Test matches in the second half of February. The first Test match is scheduled from Sunday, February 22, at Karachi, followed by the second Test in Lahore from March 2.
Sri Lanka are filling in for India, who cancelled their tour to Pakistan, originally scheduled for this month. Pakistan last played a Test match in India in December 2007, while their last Test match at home was against South Africa in October 2007. The hosts did not play even a single Test match in 2008.
The highlight of the series is definitely going to be the battle between Sri Lankan spin duo of world record holder Muttiah Muralitharan and mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis and the Pakistan batsmen, who will be short of match practice.
Chris McDonald, CEO, Taj Television Limited, owners of Ten Sports, said:
"We are extremely happy that international cricket is making a return to Pakistan. Pakistan has always been, and remains, one of the most exciting teams in the world, and fans across the globe will be keen to see their form when they take on Sri Lanka. Ten Sports as always will produce and broadcast worldwide the highest quality pictures from the series, which will add to the excitement that is already being generated."
Taj Television Limited were recently awarded the production and telecast rights of all international matches from Pakistan through 2013 by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
