"At Batelco, we pride ourselves on delivering the best customer service experience based on innovation, affordability and reliability of products and services," said Batelco General Manager Networks and IT, Ebrahim Zainal.

"We cannot afford an interruption to our services and EMC's information infrastructure technology provides confidence that our IT and billing systems and our customers' confidential information will remain secure in the event of an unplanned downtime and will scale to meet our company's future growth plans," he added.

Batelco provides its residential and commercial customers with a full spectrum of telecommunications solutions, including mobile services, international roaming, WiFi and high-speed Internet connections and satellite services. To ensure high availability for all applications and critical business and customer information, Batelco deployed an EMC information infrastructure based on an EMC Symmetrix DMX-4 enterprise storage system and EMC ControlCenter storage resource management (SRM) software. Additionally, Batelco relies on EMC SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) remote replication software, EMC TimeFinder replication software and EMC PowerPath data migration and encryption software for full replication capabilities and failover protection across two sites,

"Our newly-implemented EMC information infrastructure provides a more resilient architecture to reduce risk, improve service levels, and satisfy our current and future business requirements," said Zainal.

Habib Mahakian, Regional Director - Telecommunication & Media Sector, EMC Middle East & North Africa, said:
"One of the key reasons for Batelco selecting EMC was that we offered them a scalable solution that can be upgraded in line with the company's growth, assisting them in meeting their future goals and regional expansion plans."

EMC is also providing Batelco with 24/7 direct support, consultancy services and training to help Batelco seamlessly manage the infrastructure.

"The newly implemented EMC system addresses immediate high-risk issues, while also moving to a viable and cost-effective business continuity programme, which encompasses disaster recovery, security, backup, archiving and ITIL best practices," said Mohammed Amin, General Manager of EMC Middle East and North Africa. "The system includes a more resilient and redundant architecture that will reduce risk and improve service levels."
