The new inpatient bed tower currently under construction (set to open in 2010) on site will increase the number of patient beds from 143 to 360. Visitors will tour the hospital including the Total Joint Replacement Center, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East and one of only four worldwide, and which attracts patients from all over the world.

The hospital tour is being offered to all Arab Health visitors during day two of the event, (Tuesday January 27th) and anyone interested in joining the tour may book online through the hospital's website (events calendar).

Meanwhile, the hospital's clinical focus at the show is the following five Centers: Total Joint Replacement Center, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, The Heart Center, The Neuroscience Center and the Cancer Care Center.

The Total Joint Replacement Center of Excellence is one of the pioneers of its kind in the Middle East, using the most extensive range of full or partial artificial joints and computer-based technology to assist in the accurate fitting of artificial joints, as well as in training physicians from around the Middle East, Africa and Mediterranean Basin, and will be focusing more specifically on total knee replacement during Arab Health 2009.

Also featuring at the show will be the hospital's new healthcare information system. The new integrated system is based on leading technology from the USA, the world's most advanced healthcare market. The implementation of phase one for this Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) system will start February 1st, 2009 and when the whole process is completed, the system will transform the patient experience at the hospital. The multimillion dollar investment is designed to enhance patient care and safety by integrating all the departmental systems and making available online patient medical records; linking clinical systems, radiology systems, financial and HR management to support the hospital's 1,000 physicians and staff.

CEO of American Hospital Dubai, Mr Richard Larison, comments:
"The hospital is undergoing rapid expansion and development as we continue to expand our tertiary care capabilities, introduce advanced IT systems and develop a series of primary health clinics in the Dubai community. Dubai continues to build a world class regional healthcare hub and we are committed to supporting this development. Major professional events such as Arab Health create the opportunity to show visitors the quality of this infrastructure and we look forward to welcoming delegates to the hospital."

In addition to the new facilities and services, the hospital continues its ongoing physician recruitment plan, which will increase the number of American Board Certified or equivalent practicing physicians at the hospital significantly, over the next two years. The hospital will be continuing this commitment to recruiting leading professionals in their field, trained to the industry's highest standards, by having a dedicated team from the Human resources Department at the stand throughout the duration of Arab Health 2009.
