Dubai Air Show to stay at Airport Expo

  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, January 21 - 2009 at 14:58

The Dubai Government has scrapped plans to move this year's Dubai Air Show to a new site at Dubai World Central Aviation City in Jebel Ali, AME Info has learnt. Allison Weller, a director at Fairs and Exhibitions, which organizes the event, said this year's show will once again be held at Airport Expo Dubai and that work has begun to 'expand' the site.

According to the air show's website, the move to the new venue was going to double the size of the exhibition space and greatly increase parking for the event, which has been hampered by traffic problems in the past.

Weller gave no reason as to why the event will remain at its current location; however, MEED reported this week that work has been suspended on the $450m Exhibition City, which is part of Dubai World Central.

Asked when the event will eventually be moved to the new venue, Weller said, 'It's up to the Dubai government at the end of the day. It's in their hands.' The event is scheduled to take place in November.
