In the months of Shaban and Ramadan (August and September), the campaign has raised over 5.1 million vaccines in the GCC, surpassing their original aim of 4 million vaccines to help eliminate maternal and newborn tetanus in Sudan, Nigeria and Pakistan.

Since the global campaign's inception in 2006, over 50 million vaccines have been provided for mothers and newborns but many deaths still occur in the least developed nations in the world. The GCC campaign aimed to raise awareness of these fatal diseases and encourage the public to participate.

Nashwa quotes "We take for granted the luxury of good healthcare in our lives but we should also keep in mind that there are those in the developing world who are not as lucky as us. Every year, 500,000 cases of tetanus are registered worldwide and over 170,000 young babies and mothers die of the disease and those are only the ones that are recorded. Many of the cases go unreported in the developing world making the disease a silent killer."

"When we launched this campaign in the GCC, we had hoped the public would recognize that newborn tetanus is responsible for the death of a baby every three minutes. At Pampers, we are committed to the health and well-being of every baby and the 1 Large Pack = 1 Tetanus Vaccine campaign has given us the chance to help and protect the lives of babies in the least developed countries in the world," said Karim Kamel, Associate Marketing Director in the babycare department of Procter and Gamble, Arabian Peninsula.

Nashwa is no stranger to charity work and has actively supported many campaigns such as Pampers-UNICEF. After discovering the hardships many women and children face in the Middle East, through her self-titled talk show, 'Nashwa' aired weekly on Dubai TV, she established the Nashwa Foundation. The foundation is a charity that has contributed to saving and bettering the lives of millions of women and children in the Arab World.

Over the past 18 years Nashwa has become an accomplished media personality with her talk show, 'Nashwa', and her own production company, Pyramedia, which has offices in London, Cairo, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and New York and has produced hits such as 'Millions' Poet' and 'Prince of Poet's' TV competitions on Abu Dhabi TV as well as being the current Executive Director of the Middle East International Film Festival.

More recently, Nashwa was awarded the Gold prize at the Tenth Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival held in Bahrain for her show 'Nashwa' and landed a coveted spot for the second time on Forbes Arabia's list of the 50 Most Powerful Businesswomen in the Arab World.
