As an attraction designed for families, the Qtel Oasis has provided an important location for parents to spend quality time with their children and enjoy the peace of nature and the countryside. The new activities set to be launched this weekend are designed with this in mind, and will support the Oasis' family-friendly environment.
Located towards the coast, some three kilometres from Um Said and close to Endurance Village, the Qtel Oasis has been fully equipped with key utilities, including electricity, water and even wireless broadband Internet across the whole site. People travelling from Doha can reach site by taking the road towards the Sealine beach area.
Qtel has provided full support for the construction and management of the site, so that it can be provided as a free resource for the people of Qatar and an area they can enjoy and relax in.
Starting from this weekend, organizers have a range of surprises and activities planned for children and visiting families.
Tents are provided for visitors' use, children are given free kites to play with, and the whole area has been landscaped to retain the natural beauty and preserve the character and ecology of the surrounding area. The Qtel Oasis includes a range of inflatable slides and sports areas that people can use.
Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director of Qtel's Group Communications, said:
"Qtel supports projects like the Qtel Oasis as part of our ongoing work to offer a range of resources for the whole community of Qatar. The Qtel Oasis is already proving very popular with visitors and residents, and the number of attractions and activities will increase as the Oasis develops."
One of the advantages of the Oasis is that visitors can enjoy the same level of access to the natural surroundings as they would on a camping trip, but they have the safety and comfort of being in a controlled environment.
The Qtel Oasis will be open for the public on Thursdays and Saturdays from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and on Fridays from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Initially, the Oasis will be open for the first four months of 2009, but the project will continue if there is strong public interest and support for the initiative.
Khaled Remeithy, PR Section Head and Oasis Manager said, "It is so exciting to see the happiness in the eyes of the young ones, and to see satisfaction in the eyes of the parents, when they arrive at the Oasis. We are proud that this development is bringing us even closer to the people of Qatar and will continue to innovate to ensure that it delights and entertains our visitors."
