The forum brought together the leading international players and national decision-makers that are driving the real estate business in Turkey today, and presented a platform for senior players to network and connect with industry peers on topics of mutual interest.
Commenting on his participation, Dr. Kaan, said:
"The widespread effects of the global economic crisis will be making themselves felt for some time to come. Thus we cannot afford to wait around for them to pass; we must begin building for the future now. These discussions were of interest not only to those in Turkey, but also to regional players because much of what was discussed will pertain to the region as a whole."
The Turkey GRI comprised a series of discussions held amongst the world's top business leaders, investors and, top executives. It followed the format of all GRI forums, having no speakers and no panellists, only a series of informal discussions in small groups, where everyone had an equal chance to participate, and leading experts and industry professionals had the chance to contribute to discussions on today's most pressing issues.
Dr. Kaan has numerous ties to Istanbul and is well-qualified to chair this discussion, as he holds a PhD in Finance Engineering from Pacific Western University in the USA. He also holds an Industrial Engineering BSc and MBA and has served in a number of prestigious positions in Istanbul and internationally. His experience includes having served as Chief Advisor for the Turkish Prime Minister and Istanbul Municipal Government; Chairman of the Istanbul Gold Exchange; and Privatization Programme Manager for US Army Installations. He also holds the position of Associate Professor at Gazi University in Ankara and Fatih University in Istanbul.
