RJ transports humanitarian relief from Brussels to Gaza

Royal Jordanian yesterday carried relief aid from Brussels to Amman on board an RJ freighter.

The free shipment is part of an initiative RJ undertook at the beginning of the offensive on Gaza, when the company declared that it was prepared to carry for free food and medical assistance for Gazans to Amman from any of the countries covered by the RJ route network.

The 70,000 euro worth of medical and relief aid are donations from the B-Fast (the Belgian First Aid and Support Team) and the Belgian Ministry of Health.

The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization will handle carrying the medication and medical supplies to Gaza Strip where they will be distributed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The humanitarian relief consists of WHO emergency health kits, blankets, sets for burned patients and medical consumables (plaster, gloves, masks, etc.). The WHO kits are intended to provide basic health care for 20,000 people during three months.

In the coming days, RJ will carry another shipment of Belgian assistance to Amman. On Jan. 8, this year, a Royal Jordanian freighter carried around 36 tons of medication and medical supplies donated by the company employees to Gazans. Three ambulances were also sent on board, one donated by RJ staff members.
