The result is that Australia is again one of the most substantial exhibitors at the event.

Kym Hewett, Senior Trade Commissioner in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and the Australian Consul-General in Dubai, said:

Kym Hewett, Australian Senior Trade Commissioner MENA
"Our enthusiasm for Arab Health reflects the ever growing business relationships between Australia, the UAE and the MENA region more broadly. Austrade's health and medical team in this region is dedicated to work closely with its rapidly growing client-base, with the Arab Health exhibition in Dubai likely to remain the centre piece of the team's regional strategy for this vibrant sector."

Arab Health this year provides a great opportunity to showcase a range of the best products and services Australia has to offer in the health sector.

Cutting edge medical devices in neurophysiology, cardiology and sleep-disordered breathing (SDB); World class expertise in hospital design, management and clinical quality assurance; Internationally renowned healthcare solutions to remote areas or regions of high demand; Innovative medical equipment and high quality disposables; Latest technologies, training and consultancy in the field of emergency services; and Web-based e-health applications are only some of the offerings by Australian companies present in the show.

Over the past decade, Australia's health and medical industry has grown dramatically in size and reputation. The industry is now internationally recognized for leading edge technology, depth of professional skills, advanced research and development and robust, open regulatory systems.

IBISWorld estimates that in 2007-08 the Australian health services industry generated revenue of $1,360.8m, up 6% in real terms on estimated revenue in 2006-07.

In line with rapid growth of the health sector in MENA, Austrade is particularly keen to further expand the already visible presence of Australian health and medical companies, and their contribution in heightening the quality of healthcare in this region.

Austrade MENA has been business matching its local contacts and the Australian participants, and will be undertaking a wide range of supporting activities to enhance the opportunities for its clients to effectively network during Arab Health 2009.
