During the meeting Zayed University students addressed the history of education in the region and noted the giant leap it has taken during the past 40 years, for the first schools established in the UAE were primitive compared to the diverse educational institutions established in the UAE today, the U.S delegation were also introduced to Zayed University's experience in e-learning strategies and diverse mechanisms covering students' field training, different strategies for faculty recruitment that meet international standards, and the diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs that Zayed University offers it's students.
On her part, Joy Waughtal, a 4th year student at Luther College, said:
"Our visit to the Uae was an eye opening experience, as we got the opportunity to discuss cross cultural relations, practice our communication skills, and learn about the history and development of the UAE. It was an opportunity for both parties to learn more about each other traditions, cultures and their respective countries far from the glare of the media."
Paige Gapinski, a 3rd year student at Luther College, added, "We were very impressed by the country's infrastructure and its technical advancements and with ZU students' intellect and skills, they were ambitious and confident of the positive role each of them who will have in shaping the future of the UAE and support the economic and social advancement of their country."
Molly Anderson, a 2nd year student at Luther College, said, "Our meeting with Zayed University students gave us the opportunity to openly discuss the difference in cultures and traditions, learn about the role of women in the UAE, and how they are making their presence and participation strongly felt in society as university professors, teachers, lawyers, engineers, doctors, under secretaries, business women, administrators, media and as members of the police force and the army."
