CGC to be technology partner for first women's mini marathon in Doha

Consolidated Gulf Co (CGC), the IT, telecom and engineering conglomerate and exclusive Nokia partner in Qatar, has signed an agreement with Oryx Advertising Company WLL to be the official technology partner for the first-ever mini marathon scheduled to be held on 28 February 2009 in Doha.

The event is being hosted by Woman Today, Qatar's popular women's magazine. An agreement to this effect was signed by CGC' Chief Operating Officer Anil Mahajan and Ravi Raman, Vice President of Oryx Advertising Company WLL, the publishers of the magazine.

With the aim to promote health coupled with pleasure, the Woman Today Mini Marathon, a distance of 4.2km, will be an event that will witness people of nationalities coming together to celebrate well-being.

"Health and well being are key issues for Woman Today and we wanted to promote it with a simple yet powerful message. Running is by far the simplest and one of the most effective forms of exercise and the Woman Today Mini Marathon seeks to bring together serious and first time runners," said Ravi Raman.

Expressing happiness to support for a healthy cause, Anil Mahajan said, "CGC is committed to the over all development of the Qatari society. We at CGC always believe in contributing to the well-being and healthy lifestyle of the people of Qatar - be it by way of bringing and applying consumer-friendly technological innovations, offering total mobility solutions for the growth of local businesses and keeping people connected to their near and dear ones or joining for a better social cause for people's health and fitness, such as the upcoming Mini Marathon. The facilities of the Aspire Zone have been chosen as the venue for the Woman Today Mini Marathon which is open for women only, who are above the age of 18 years and for all those who have parental consent in the case of minors.
