"We wanted to tie in the experience of Australia Day with that of winter sports, as the Australian Alps attract residents from the main cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. We are inviting everyone who wants to celebrate this great country's national day to come and join us at Ski Dubai for a range of activities inspired by both Australia and her formidable mountain range."
said Mike Mahoney, General Manager, Ski Dubai.
The fun-filled themed events include a dry boat race, an exhibition cricket game and a ski race on the slope. There will also be stunning displays of snow carvings, featuring some of Australia's iconic landmarks, such as Sydney Opera house and Sydney Harbour Bridge, and a raffle, with prizes being given away from Aussie legends, Cinestar Cinemas and Yulamba from Le Meridien, to name but a few.
And, all the very best Aussie cuisine will be on offer at St Moritz; including beef pie, bangers and mash, Tim Tams, lamingtons and Surf & Turf.
The Australia Day event is just the first of a year-long Ski Dubai programme which intends to celebrate snow sports across the world. Plans to commemorate great skiing nations, such as Austria, Switzerland, Norway and France are also in the pipeline. Each country will be honoured with traditional festivities, including cuisine and culture, with a host of related slope activities and varied special offers and promotions.
Ski Dubai's Australia Week starts on 24th and runs until 31st January (Australia Day is 26th January). Information and pre-registration is required at the front desk for participants taking part in the race day.
