Thomas van Opstal named Area Manager of Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Abu Dhabi, General Manager of Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel and Resort

van Opstal recently served as General Manager of the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers. He has over 28 years of international experience in the hospitality industry and has worked with the Sheraton group covering properties across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

As General Manager of Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel and Resort, van Opstal will be responsible for directing the strategy and operation of this very well established 5-star hotel, located in the UAE's capital.

Besides managing the operations of the hotel as the General Manager, van Opstal's area responsibility involves overseeing the operations of all the four (4) Starwood properties in Abu Dhabi namely, Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel and Resort, Sheraton Khalidiya Hotel Abu Dhabi, Le Meridien Abu Dhabi, Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi and the soon to open Aloft Abu Dhabi. In addition, he is also tasked to lead the development of other Starwood properties in Abu Dhabi.

Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel and Resort is ideally located on the Abu Dhabi Corniche overlooking the turquoise clear waters of the Arabian Gulf and is only 40 minutes' drive from the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
