The bank, who recently received the Tanmia Emiratisation Award, also announced the successful graduation of 59 students from the 2008 programme.

The programme, which kicked-off today with 60 new recruits, is specially designed for UAE national students attending a full time course in any university or college around the UAE. The one year development programme will run every Saturday in the Al Manzil Hotel, Old Town, and offers a salaried position with an annual contract with Lloyds TSB Middle East. The scheme is a tailor-made insight into all parts of the banking industry which students undertake whilst continuing to study full time. The scheme also complements the existing Management Trainee programme for UAE National graduates.

Bert de Ruiter, Managing Director of Lloyds TSB Group Middle East, said:
"I am thrilled to announce the second annual Lloyds TSB Middle East Undergraduate Development Programme. During these turbulent times it is more important than ever to help develop young Emiratis into top class professionals who will lead the world of finance and banking in the UAE."

Topics covered under the programme will include an Introduction to Banking, Life skills and Corporate Social Responsibility. Each Saturday, the students will learn through exercises, activities and interactive presentations. The Introduction to Banking days will be delivered by Lloyds TSB Middle East's business units giving the Undergraduate Trainees an understanding of how the business works and what the teams within the bank do.

AbdulRahman Saqr, UAE Business Advisor/Head of Emiratisation at Lloyds TSB Middle East, said, "This programme continues to be a great opportunity for Emirati undergraduate students as they will get a fun insight into Lloyds TSB Middle East's world class banking knowledge, initiatives and global best practices. One of the objectives of this programme is to create a talent pool of Emirati banking professionals. We are guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and this programme will be a direct contributor to it."
