As part of its commitment to support a variety of sports and raise its profile among the youth in Qatar, Aspire will be providing financial support and has launched the Best Emerging Athlete Award, to be presented during the Tour.
The Blue Shirt award will be presented to the best emerging athlete from each of the Tour's stages, in both the men's and women's sections.
"The Blue Shirt Award for the best emerging athlete was designed to show appreciation for the sports' newcomers; to motivate them, enhance their performance, recognize hard work and highlight these accomplishments lead to good results. This award will expand to include all upcoming major sports hosted in the country which Aspire might be a part of either logistically or by providing financial and athletic support."
said Ali Salem Afifa, Chief Administration Officer at Aspire
"At Aspire we have excellent relations with all national federations and associations and we are always looking at ways to strengthen these and work on providing support, as part of the country's vision of establishing Qatar as a regional and international sports hub. Therefore, it was a natural step to provide support to the Cycling Tour of Qatar, which has become one of the most prominent cycling tours around the world, attracting some big names such as the international Belgian cyclist, Tom Booonen," Afifa added.
Alongside the tour, Aspire will be holding a fun race for Aspire's young female students, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance cycling and introduce it to female students.
